“Draft Wesley Clark” Reaches Multiple Milestones:  100+ MeetUp Cities; Quarter Million $$ in Pledges; Radio Ads; FEC Filing; and… Second in Traffic of ALL Presidential Candidate Sites.

General Wesley Clark, on www.DraftWesleyClark.com:

"Mr. Clark also said that DraftWesleyClark.com was central to the possibility of making the race. 'It has a very significant influence,' he said. 'When you are looking at moving into a field where you’ve never been before, when you see things like this forming, it makes you seriously consider your options.'.... 'They have really used the power of the Internet in a way that I don’t think it’s been used before,' he said. 'I’ve never seen or heard of anything like it.'" (NY Observer, 7/16/03)

(Washington, DC) – DraftWesleyClark.com today announced that it has reached significant milestones on multiple fronts, dramatically ramping up its effort to draft Wesley Clark for President, and forcing it to send out a press release that crams way too much into fewer than 600 words.

Nearly $250k in Pledges
DraftWesleyClark.com has raised nearly $250,000 in pledges for its “General Fund,” from more than 1,000 separate individuals – in only 3 weeks since it was launched.

High Growth in MeetUp numbers
The campaign also confirmed that DraftWesleyClark.com supporters met in nearly 100 in cities on Monday, July 7th via Clark 2004 “MeetUps.”

The Clark 2004 MeetUp group is now the third largest of ALL presidential candidate MeetUps – and first for rate of growth.  It is now the 12th highest ranked of ALL MeetUp groups – this week passing both the “Elvis” and “Buffy” groups.

There are now Clark 2004 MeetUp members in nearly 400 cities around the world, with critical mass (5 or more for a meeting) in 181.

Second Most Trafficked Presidential “Candidate” Site

Grassroots enthusiasm for a Clark candidacy has now made www.DraftWesleyClark.com the second-highest trafficked site of all Presidential candidates – a crucial grassroots “modem primary” endorsement.

Alexa Rankings for week ended July 16th: (note, lower numbers reflect a better position, and higher traffic. See http://pages.alexa.com/prod_serv/traffic_learn_more.html for more details)

About DraftWesleyClark.com
Launched only three months ago, DraftWesleyClark.com has collected tens of thousands of letters urging General Clark to run, gained national and international media coverage in print, online, and on TV, and built a network of volunteers, ready to serve – if General Clark chooses to lead.

DraftWesleyClark.com is the largest effort to draft the General. It is not affiliated with General Clark, but is motivated by high regard for his solid record of leadership and achievement: Former supreme commander of NATO; First in his class at West Point; Vietnam combat veteran; A Rhodes Scholar; A necessary voice of common sense and moderation on the foreign policy front.  The effort is led by a diverse team including veterans of a number of grassroots and political efforts. It is headquartered in Washington, DC, one block from the White House. For more information, please see www.DraftWesleyClark.com.
